(Digital Itla) Iran has executed two individuals convicted of spying for Israel’s Mossad amid ongoing regional conflicts involving the US and Israel.
According to the official state news agency IRNA, the Iranian judiciary identified the two executed individuals as Omid Behzad and Pourya Safvat, who were sentenced to death for treason and espionage.
The judiciary stated that both individuals were convicted of transmitting coordinates, photos, and critical details of Iranian military and security installations to Mossad officers during Israeli strikes on June 13, 2025, and the broader escalation among the US, Israel, and Iran that commenced on February 28, 2026.
During a 13-day period ending July 24, military strikes were exchanged between the US and Iran, in which Washington targeted locations within Iran while Tehran claimed strikes on US military assets in several Arab nations including Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Tensions escalated following negotiations between Washington and Tehran that began after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reached on June 18 to finalize a formal agreement.
However, the talks subsequently hit a stalemate due to disagreements over security guarantees and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
