ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) have arrested 275 foreign nationals during a joint raid on an alleged illegal call centre in Islamabad’s I-10 sector, officials said.
According to the FIA, the arrested individuals include Chinese nationals and citizens of other countries.
Officials said the call centre management was allegedly involved in producing indecent material, with foreign men and women reportedly recruited for the activity.
The FIA has registered a case under the Foreigners Act, while the NCCIA has registered a separate case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
According to officials, all the arrested foreign nationals had entered Pakistan on visit or business visas.
Authorities have decided to deport 76 of the arrested foreigners to their respective countries immediately. Sources said the process of obtaining exit permits for the individuals is underway.
Further investigation into the call centre’s activities and the involvement of the arrested individuals is ongoing.
