FAISALABAD, Pakistan — Aug. 25, 2026: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), working with local drug control authorities, seized a large quantity of allegedly unregistered and unapproved medicines along with Rs5.95 million ($21,200) in suspected crime proceeds during a raid in Faisalabad, officials said.

The joint operation was conducted at a residential property in Shehbaz Town, where authorities said medicines and related products were being illegally stored, stocked and sold without a valid licence from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) or another competent authority.

Officials said the raid recovered tens of thousands of tablets, including products marketed as Black Cobra, Vega, Penegra and other sexual-enhancement medicines, as well as creams, sprays, capsules and other products.

The team also seized unidentified powder, empty capsule shells, packaging materials, product cartons and leaflets, according to the official report.

Authorities said Rs5,950,500 in cash was recovered from different rooms and cartons at the premises. The money was taken into FIA custody as suspected proceeds of crime and as evidence.

A formal FIR No. 41/2026 was registered under relevant provisions of the DRAP Act and the Drugs Act 1976, officials said. Rizwan Ilyas, son of Muhammad Ilyas, was arrested in connection with the case.

The seized products were formally taken into custody by the Drug Inspector under the prescribed procedure.

Health authorities have warned that unapproved medicines, particularly products containing undisclosed or excessive chemical ingredients, can pose serious risks, including cardiovascular complications, sudden drops in blood pressure, kidney and liver damage and other potentially life-threatening effects.

The FIA said further investigation was underway to determine the source, manufacturing, distribution and sale of the seized products.

The raid comes amid a wider crackdown by Pakistani authorities on counterfeit and unregistered medicines. In a separate Faisalabad operation last month, the FIA and Drug Control Team also uncovered an alleged fake medicine manufacturing facility and recovered medicines, raw materials, labels and packaging material.
