FAISALABAD, Aug. 27, 2026 — Faisalabad police have arrested a woman allegedly involved in a large-scale drug-smuggling network and seized more than 74 kg of hashish and over 7 kg of opium, police said. According to police, officers from Gulberg police station were conducting a checking operation on Jail Road when they attempted to stop a suspicious rickshaw.

The rickshaw driver, identified as Bilal, allegedly fled under cover of darkness, while a woman travelling in the vehicle was detained. Police identified the woman as Khalida Parveen and said a large quantity of drugs was recovered from her possession. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.

Station House Officer (SHO) Gulberg Abdul Ghaffar has begun questioning the suspect to determine the source of the drugs and identify other members of the alleged supply network. Police said efforts were also under way to arrest the fleeing rickshaw driver. Investigators said the suspects allegedly obtained drugs from outside the province and supplied them in different parts of Faisalabad.

Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) said a crackdown against drug trafficking was continuing to protect young people from the effects of narcotics.

“Those involved in the illegal drug trade will not be allowed to escape the law,” the CPO said.

Police said further investigation would determine the full extent of the alleged network and the roles of other suspects.
