(Digital Itla) Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Agha Rafiullah has written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressing concerns over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' document verification system.
Demanding the outsourcing of the Foreign Office document verification system, Agha Rafiullah stated in the letter that reforms should be introduced to the system.
Agha Rafiullah mentioned that a video showing the massive rush of applicants outside the Foreign Office went viral on social media. He called this crowd painful and regrettable, stating that citizens are facing severe difficulties in getting their documents verified by the Foreign Office.
He said, "Applicants travel to Islamabad from far-flung areas for document verification, which forces citizens to endure long wait times alongside travel expenses. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' verification system has limited capacity; therefore, the government should outsource this system."
In the letter, Agha demanded that the Foreign Office document verification system be transformed into a modern, user-friendly system, nationwide facilitation centers be established, and the entire system be digitalized. The PPP MNA stated that applications and fees for document verification should be received online, and the Foreign Office should digitally verify documents via QR codes.
Agha Rafiullah asserted that these proposed reforms would improve efficiency and bring transparency to the Foreign Ministry's verification system, while reducing travel expenses and processing times for citizens. He added that these suggestions align with the government's vision of Digital Pakistan, e-governance, and public service, urging the Prime Minister to direct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take action on an emergency basis.
