LISBON — Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, model and influencer Georgina Rodriguez, in Portugal, according to Portuguese media reports.

Ronaldo, 41, shared a photograph on Instagram showing the couple wearing what appeared to be wedding rings, prompting widespread celebrations among fans. Portuguese media described the ceremony as one of the biggest weddings of the year and reported that it took place in the coastal town of Cascais, near Lisbon, with the couple’s five children in attendance.

The Instagram post quickly attracted millions of likes, reflecting the enormous global interest in the couple.

A decade-long relationship

Ronaldo and Rodriguez have been together for about 10 years. They first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Spain, where Rodriguez was working as a sales assistant and Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid.

Rodriguez previously recalled that a colleague asked her to stay after her shift because an important customer was expected. That customer was Ronaldo, who arrived with his son Cristiano Jr. and friends.

She later said she was nervous when she first saw Ronaldo and immediately felt attracted to him.

Ronaldo has also said Rodriguez caught his attention from their first meeting, describing her as mature and interesting.

The couple announced their engagement on Aug. 11, 2025, when Rodriguez shared a photograph of her engagement ring on Instagram with a message saying she had accepted his proposal.

From Gucci employee to global influencer

Rodriguez was born in Argentina and grew up in northern Spain. She has spoken publicly about growing up in modest circumstances and facing financial difficulties during her childhood.

She initially dreamed of becoming a professional dancer and trained in ballet, but financial constraints forced her to abandon that ambition. She later turned toward the fashion industry and eventually secured a job at Gucci.

Her relationship with Ronaldo began while she was working at the luxury brand's store in Spain.

Rodriguez has described how Ronaldo would sometimes wait outside the store for her after work. On one occasion, he arrived in a Bugatti sports car, leaving her colleagues surprised as they returned home by bus while she left with the football star.

Five children and a life in the spotlight

Ronaldo and Rodriguez have five children in their family, two of whom are their biological children together. Rodriguez has also played an important role in raising Ronaldo's other three children.

Their youngest daughter, Bella, was born in April 2022.
