FAISALABAD —28 Sep (DIGITAL ITLA) Following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a target has been established to cultivate wheat across 1.834 million acres of land in the Faisalabad Division for the current season. A Divisional Wheat Committee meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Commissioner Faisalabad Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh to review operational strategies. The chair issued directives to ensure the abundant availability of fertilizers and certified seeds at official rates, ensure canal water delivery to the tail-ends, and promote mechanical sowing using super seeders. The meeting was attended by Director Agriculture Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood, representatives of the Kissan Board, and Deputy Commissioners from all four districts of the division.

The Commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners to address farmers' grievances through district committees within 15 days and obtain verification reports from local nambardars regarding 100% canal water availability at the tail-ends. He further instructed officials to connect small farmers with owners of super seeders at the Union Council level to maximize the adoption of modern agricultural techniques.

Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh specified November 20 as the deadline for completing wheat sowing across the division and noted that the provincial government would announce the wheat support price soon. Reaffirming the commitment to make Faisalabad the top-performing division in wheat production while safeguarding farmers' rights, he announced that a review meeting would be held in 15 days to assess progress on assigned targets.
