10 Climbers Missing After Avalanche on Broad Peak; 4 Bodies Recovered, Search Operation Ongoing

(Digital Itla) Four bodies have been recovered among the 10 climbers who went missing after an avalanche struck Broad Peak—the world's 12th highest peak located in Pakistan. A search operation is underway to locate the remaining missing climbers.

According to the Alpine Club of Pakistan, the mountaineers were on an expedition to scale the 8,047-meter-high Broad Peak when they were hit by an avalanche, after which contact with them was lost.

Officials stated that the search team is being led by renowned Pakistani climber Sarbaz Khan, while the missing team includes American, Nepali, Omani, and Pakistani climbers.

Rescue teams are engaged in searching for the missing climbers in rugged terrain, though relief operations are facing difficulties due to harsh weather conditions.

Broad Peak stands at 8,047 meters above sea level and is the world's 12th highest mountain. Situated near K2 in the Karakoram range, it is considered one of the most challenging peaks for mountaineers globally.
